Philip T. Nagan

November 23, 1953 — October 31, 2001

Formerly of Kaukauna, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2001, in Chicago, following a brief and unexpected illness at the age of 47. Phil was born on November 23, 1953, son of the late Paul Nagan and Eileen (O’Connor) Nagan of Kaukauna. He was a graduate of Holy Cross School and following his graduation from Kaukauna High School in 1971, Phil received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and his Master’s degree from Michigan State University.

Phil enjoyed fishing and was talented in music and photography. Phil’s love for friends and strangers alike is reflected by his gift of being an organ donor.

Phil is survived by his mother: Eileen Nagan of Kaukauna; three brothers: Michael (Valerie Nishimura) Nagan of Seattle; Peter Nagan of Neenah; James (Carole) Nagan of Kodiak, Alaska; two sisters: Mary Lee (Michael Shellenberger) Nagan of Seattle, Washington and Elizabeth Newhouse of Appleton; ten nephews and nieces; three great-nephews; many aunts and uncles, and his special friends at the Sixpence Tavern in Chicago, where everybody knew his name. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Nagan, grandparents James and Mamie O’Connor and Alphonse and Maude Nagan, a brother-in-law Geoff Newhouse, a niece Farrell Nagan, and several aunts and uncles.

The funeral liturgy for Phil will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, November 5, 2001 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Family friend Deacon Steve Vande Hey will share some personal memories at the liturgy. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 2:00 PM until the time of the liturgy. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family has established a memorial fund in Phil’s name for 1000 Islands Environmental Center and the Music Ministry at Holy Cross Church.
