Keller, Philip R.
1040 East Moorpark Avenue
Appleton

Phil passed on peacefully January 10th at the Cherry Meadows Hospice Residence. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband and father; a gentle man of integrity and conviction who was a quiet contributing member to the Appleton community.

Phil was born September 22, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Philip F. and Gertrude Rice Keller. He grew up in Wilmette, IL. He received an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University. He served six years in the Navy as an aerographer’s mate.

On New Year’s Day, 1966, Phil married Linda Ann Berry, in Oak Park, IL.

He began his career as a financial analyst at the Harris Trust Bank, Chicago. In 1968 Phil and his family moved to Appleton where he began work as a Trust Investment Officer at the First National Bank of Appleton. In 1985 he opened the Appleton branch of Investment Management Services, a division of R. W. Baird & Co., retiring in 1995.

Phil was a past-president of the Peabody Manor Board and was a member of the Peabody Endowment Committee. He served as treasurer of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Foundation and was a member of its Finance Committee. He was a director emeritus of the Mielke Family Foundation. Phil also had been a member of the Appleton Downtown Rotary Club (of which he was a Paul Harris Fellow), the YMCA Endowment Committee, and the Fox Valley Community Foundation’s Advisory Board. In 2000 Phil was honored with the Paul and Elaine Groth Award for Mentoring.
Phil is survived by the love of his life, wife Linda, and four children: son Philip W. (Clare Waight) Keller, London, England; son John (Shannon Boegh) Keller and their son Oliver, Appleton; daughter Allison Keller, Milwaukee, WI; and son Andrew Keller; Chicago, IL. Also a brother Donald J. (Mimi) Keller; a sister-in-law Carol M. Berry; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joanne K. Lewis and a sister-in-law Virginia W. Keller.

He will be missed.

The family wishes to extend its gratitude to Dr. Anderla, Dr. Chelsky, and the nurses and staff in the Cancer/Oncology Unit at Appleton Medical Center.

A memorial service for Phil will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 803 E. College Avenue, Appleton, WI on Tuesday, January 14 at 1I:00 am.

We are also deeply appreciative of the loving and thoughtful care that Phil received at
Cherry Meadows Hospice Residence and the consideration shown to us. For this reason, in lieu of flowers, we ask that memorials be made to a fund we are establishing for Cherry Meadows that will ensure that all those in need may be able to spend their final days in this wonderful facility (Phil Keller Memorial Fund for Cherry Meadows, 2500 Heritage Woods Drive, Appleton WI 54915)
