Peter James Ready Jr.

January 27, 1934 — November 10, 2016

Peter “Jim” Ready Jr., 82 passed away on November 10, 2016 at Regional Medical Center in Appleton. He was born to the late Peter and Irene (Mitchell) on January 27, 1934. He served proudly in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He spent 47 years as a teamster employed by Foremost and Morning Glory and also serving on the local board of the 563. He often took on second jobs to support his family. Jim loved the game of baseball and played on many fast pitch softball teams. He was a great teacher of many sports to all his children. In Jim's 40's he discovered running and it became his true passion. He competed in 49 marathons including the 1986 Boston Marathon often finishing in the top of his age group. In his downtime he liked to party, listen to music and ride his Harley.

He is survived by his children; Jim (Shelly), Kim (Don) Rainwater, Mike (Amy), Lisa (Jerome) Hagen and Steve (Mary). Grandchildren; Dominic (Miranda), Tessa, Joshua, Matthew, Justine (Jamie), David, Alyssa (Steven), Hannah, Jenna, Samantha, Chris (Henna), Kory (Vong) and Levi (Makenna), great-grandchildren; Emma, Audrey, Eli, Sophia, Olivia, Doni, Brent, Chase, Joseph and Vivian and one sister Blanche Lallement along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brother Ralph and two sisters; Mary and Dolores.

Funeral Liturgy will be on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME at 537 N. Superior St. Appleton at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM Cap.officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of liturgy.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Disabled Veterans organization.
