Peter was a wonderful and dedicated human being. It was my honor and pleasure to serve with him for many years on the board of directors of Easter Seals Wisconsin. He brought commitment and compassion to our mission to serve people with disabilities. I am greatly saddened to learn of his loss. It was a great joy to serve alongside him in a mission so important to both of us. Rest in the peace of our Lord, my friend. Very well done, indeed!

Hugs to Jenny and Tony, and to the grandchildren. I met Peter when he and Mary Ann got involved with the Friends of Ledge View board. Peter was a dear friend to me. He often spoke of Jenny and Tony with great pride. I deeply valued his wit and his wisdom, his warmth and care; and his hugs meant a great deal to me. I remember a day when he was out on the trail on his scooter, and had a mishap; he so often referred to us with mock "scorn" as the "tree-huggers," that I had to tease him about finally getting grass stains on his knees. Peter, I am grateful to have had your friendship. Thank you for touching my life.

Dear Jenni and Tony, Your dad was the epitome of a kind soul with a generous spirit who always cared about others more than himself. May you happiness of your days together always have a cherished place in your heart. Love, The Weintraubs (Neil, Stef and Marla)

When I began working for Easter Seals WI Peter was a member of the Board of directors. We both lived in New Holstein so we would ride to Madison together four times a year for board meetings, at the time a 2.5 hour ride each way. Peter would drive, I would listen and learn. His patience and perspective guided me and grounded me. I m currently serving as President and CEO for Easter Seals WI, his words and ideas continue to guide me and the organization. He has left a lasting and endearing legacy. Our condolences on your loss, we grieve with you. We celebrate the life he lived and his legacy of caring and compassion.

Peter was probably the most influential educator in my life. He saw potential in me where I saw none, encouraged and supported me through high school. I was so happy to find him a few years back on Facebook; every comment he posted on my page brought me pure joy and warm memories. He was an extraordinary man and lived an exemplary life. I will always love him for the way he treated me so many decades ago,

I am the retired CEO of Easter Seals Wisconsin, and Peter was a much beloved, long time friend to this wonderful organization and to me. I can hardly overstate his importance in my life. He had a beautiful, wide heart and was one of the best souls to ever grace this earth. I am better for having known him. Although we have never met, I have heard about all his children over many years and my heart goes out to you. Rest in sweet peace, Peter. You will always be in my heart.

My condolences to Peter's family and friends. Peter was a strong influence and friend while I was at JFK. In one memorable exchange, I told him my mother had invited me to join her for several months in Mexico, an experience that would take me out of the US School System (in partial violation of mandatory education laws). He interpreted this as hesitation on my part. In total Pete Eltink mode, he told me "travel IS education, GO!" He also assured me that HE would figure out how to make it right with the US education system when I returned to JFK the following semester. (Which he did.) In just those few words, Pete changed the trajectory of my life. After reading the trajectory of HIS life in his obituary, I realize why Pete responded the way he did, and that he knew EXACTLY what it would mean for me. He was a very special man.

Tony and Jenni I am so sad for you losing your dad and mom within months of each other. They were such wonderful friends. Even though we didn't see each other very often we still kept in touch. Pete and I served on the NCDC board for many years and enjoyed each other and all are mutual friends. Please know I am praying for you and your families. John Spring, Quincy, IL

It is so moving to hear of Peter Eltink's passing from this world into God's loving arms for eternity. As our high school history teacher and basketball coach, he has always been in my heart. He still inspires me, and undoubtedly others as well, to study both American and World History, and any gentle moment in life seems largely his doing. I'm still touched by his genuine friendship as he shared lunch and saw me off on the bus in Sioux City at the beginning of my trip to Vietnam as a young Marine in fall, 1966. Then, and throughout the ensuing decades, Peter has remained a real Hero to me. With God's mercy, I look forward with great excitement to joining him in Heaven someday. May God Bless Peter's whole family, wherever you may be.
