Paul W. Simon

October 21, 1927 — December 4, 2005

Paul Simon, age 78, of Kimberly, passed away Sunday December 4, 2005 surrounded by his family at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Paul was born on October 21, 1927 in Appleton, son of the late Paul and Anna Simon. On April 24, 1948, he married the former Marian Hoolihan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. His beloved wife of fifty-six years preceded Paul in death on August 27, 2004. Paul worked at Kimberly Clark and then at RePap for a total of forty-two years, and retired as a superintendent in the Coating and Stock Prep Departments. He also worked part-time for Allied Fireplaces. Paul very much enjoyed his lunches and friendships with Sr. Annette, Sr. Mary, and Sr. Ann. Paul and Marian enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in Florida. They also enjoyed the times they spent at their trailer at Twin Bridges. Paul was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and always looked forward to watching the games with his sons-in-law Dan Speering and Dan Feucht; they were both very special to him. Paul will be remembered as a very loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa, great-grandpa, and brother-in-law. His grandkids and great-grandkids were his pride and joy and he always looked forward to their visits. His family meant the world to him, and they will all miss him very much. Paul is survived by his twin daughters: Donna (Dan) Feucht of Appleton and their children Melisa (Chris) Engelhardt, Laura (Andy) Kaminski, and Brian Maas and his fiancée Tabitha Hauser; and Linda (Dan) Speering of Appleton and their children Stephani (Scott) Clark and Amanda Speering and her special friend Jeff Kopetsky; six great-grandchildren: Hayden Clark, Lynzie, McKenna, and Jayson Engelhardt; and Andrew and Amara Kaminski; a sister: Bernice Lopas of Kaukauna; three sisters-in-law: Sally Foster, Luanne Nelson, and Patricia (Bill) Boyle, all of Appleton; a brother-in-law: Ray Pitsch of Kimberly; and a special cousin Clarence "Butch" Simon and his special friend Elaine of Mountain. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marian, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

The funeral liturgy for Paul will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. A memorial fund in Paul's name has been established.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Althea Valentyne for her weekly visits and prayers with Paul. A very special thank you to Sr. Ann Cravillion – your kindness, concern, visits, phone calls, and devoted friendship to both Marian and Paul will never be forgotten. Finally, we want Lori Rohloff to know how much her friendship meant to Paul. After the death of Marian, Lori became a treasured friend to the family – we will never forget her kindness. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation for the kind and loving care given to their father over the past weeks by the many caregivers at St. Elizabeth Hospital

Dad – You taught us to be strong and to always keep trying, no matter how tough it was. You will always be our hero. Say "hi" to mom for us, and tell her we love her and miss her. Until we all meet again, Linda and Donna.

Paul – We couldn't have asked for a better father-in-law. We will miss you at our football games, but there will always be an open chair. Your sons-in-law, Dan F. and Dan S.

Grandpa – Your eyes were always smiling, your face was always beaming, and your memories will continue to light everyone's hearts and lives forever. We love you. Your grandkids, Scooter, Steph, Lolo, Mouse, and Bud.

You are our bestest papa. Your Great-Grandkids, Andrew, McKenna, Hayden, Jayson, Amara, and Lynzie.

Dad

For many long weeks you fought a tough fight
And now you are resting in heaven's warm light.
We had to decide if we should let you go;
It was a difficult thing – you have to know,
But we decided, because of our love
To set you free to join mom up above.
We know this won't be our last good-bye
For you will join Jesus in heaven on high.
And someday too, we'll all be there
Praising Jesus with the angels, up in the air.
