Paul A. Gartzke

Paul A. Gartzke, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. He was born on October 19, 1922 in Menasha to the late Adolf and Mary (Turensky) Gartzke. Paul graduated from St. Mary High School in 1940. After graduation, Paul proudly served his country in the US Army in England, Germany and France during WWII. On January 19, 1946, Paul married Ione Miller at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha. He worked at Kimberly Clark until his retirement at the age of 60. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also enjoyed gardening, camping, woodworking and visiting with his old time friends at Jefferson Park. He was a life-long member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha. Most importantly, Paul was a devoted husband and father who cherished his time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his four children: Carol (Michael) Quinn, Michael (fiancée Heather Hawtrey) Gartzke, Connie (Neil) Frassetto and Sharon Nelson; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Elmer Miller and Ed Manske; sisters-in-law: Marcella Gartzke and Laverne Miller; he is further survived my many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ione Gartzke; brother: Peter Gartzke; sister: Mary Ann Sarnowski; daughter-in-law: Linda. He was further preceded in death by many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH (528 Second St., Menasha) with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 AM until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Paul's name.

Paul's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Aliyeva, along with the wonderful nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for the care given to Paul.
