Patsy A. Trickie

December 15, 1945 — August 17, 2019

Patsy passed away peacefully on August 17th 2019 at the age of 73. We will miss her every day but we are comforted knowing her suffering is over.

Patsy was born in Melrose Park, IL to Armando and Evelyn (Hartig) Testa on December 15, 1945. As a child Patsy enjoyed riding bicycles, roller skating and family trips to Pennsylvania. At the age of 21 Patsy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma and had to have her right leg amputated above the knee allowing her to survive her first bout with cancer. A short time later she found out the cancer had spread to her lung. She had part of one lung removed, letting her survive her second bout with cancer early in her life.

With the cancer behind her, young Patsy started making the most of her life. Later in life she would talk about living by the laundromat with her oldest daughter Donna and how much she enjoyed her work at the laundromat. After the laundromat she worked with her mother at O’Hare Airport which she also spoke fondly of. On September 17th, 1977 Patsy Ann Testa married Harold Russell Trickie. They had 2 daughters Denise and Dawn. Patsy and Harold raised the 3 girls in the Plainfield area until Harold passed away in 1986. Patsy, now a single mother, worked at Waushara Industries until she moved Denise and Dawn to the Appleton area in 1995. Always persevering, Patsy took a job at Pensar as an electronic assembly technician, and later became a re-work technician to support her girls until she was finally unable to work in about 2004. Despite her disability and all of the challenges she faced in life she always had a smile in her heart and was willing to help others.

Patsy’s favorite hobby was painting. She started with raw white bisque figurines and brought them to life with color and unique painting and chalking techniques. Patsy loved painting, she painted for herself, family and friends for most of her life. Even during her stay at Rennes she found a project, every piece of their nativity scene got repainted. Patsy also enjoyed sewing and cross-stitching as well as bingo at Oneida Heights.

Patsy is survived by her brother Harry Testa, her sister Jackie Testa, her 2 daughters; Denise (Eric) Bruecker and Dawn (Lyle) Marier, and her brother-in-law David Poters. Patsy is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Raymond Lyle III (Danielle) Applebee, Rachel (Dylan) Beach, Ryan Applebee, Russell Marier, Alex Marier, and Emma Bruecker. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Raymond Lyle Applebee IV, Harli Jean Applebee, Emmett Beach, and Kameron Beach. She is further survived by her God-child Crystal Goman.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Armando and Evelyn, her husband Harold, her daughter Donna Applebee, and 3 sisters Rena Poters, Joann Haynes and Shirley Cook.
