Dear Hookie and family. I was so heartbroken this morning when Ken let me know of Pat's passing. We so enjoyed your visit with us here in Nova Scotia and although I only met you folks that one time, that dear sweet Pat wiggled her way right into my heart and I think she felt the same. Tears here in Nova Scotia too. Love and condolences to you all. With love, Cousin Vicki (and Philip) xoxo...

Someone so special will never be forgotten. The Van Heuklon home was always a place all Cratcher's were welcome, as well as Nook's. (ha ha) Michelle and I will be thinking of you at this time of loss.

I was a patient at St E's for 4 months back in 1993 and Pat cleaned my room. She was such a joy to talk to. Really brightened my days there.

The VanHeuklon home was always open. When we were in high school we would just stop over and walk right in. All of Buck and Cherri's friends...most of us on motorcycles. She loved us and we loved her. Hookie too. Very nice people..genuine. She made the world a better place. Wonderful family...and it all started with Mrs. Hookie.

Hooky and family, What a lady you married! Our whole family loved her! She had the stamina of the “energizer Bunny that never stops”. We shared such nice lunches together to catch up on each other’s lives. She really puts a spot in your heart that will never leave even when she has left this world. So many if us will miss her Human presence in our life.

Your mom was such a nice woman and a wonderful neighbor. Your mom and dad came to my dad’s funeral and that meant a lot to our family.

I was welcomed for many dinners in her kitchen as a young boy.... even after I ate birdseed out of the feeder right in front of the window with the entire extended family finishing their dinners... and I have known for decades about her legendary appetite for books. I have no adequate words beyond that... I wish I could have shown up for a traditional service, but this is the best I can do. My condolences to all of you.
