Orville “Orv” Romenesko, 85, of Freedom, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center.

Orv was born on January 17, 1926 to Walter and Mabel (Newhouse) Romenesko in Little Chute. During WWII Orv served in the U.S. Army in the 151st infantry division company F in Luzon, Philippines. He married Isabel Lamers on September 25, 1948. Orv worked and farmed for many years, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Thilmany. He also enjoyed woodcarving, especially Santa Claus carvings. Orv and his brothers got together every Tuesday for card club and played smear (recrack and schnooker). Orv most of all enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was Papa Orv to his great grandchildren and the time he spent with them will always be cherished, as he gave them a ride on his hover round or just reading them a book. Orv had a wonderful sense of humor and liked good hearted teasing such as “quit ringing that doorbell or I'll kick the guts out of you” when in reality you were more likely to get a hug. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Freedom VFW post # 7692 and St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Orv is survived by seven children; Bruce Romenesko, Freedom, Mark (Diane) Romenesko, Kaukauna, Paul (Debbie) Romenesko, Appleton, Becky (Don) Green, Menasha, Kim (Jason Dries) Romenesko, Milwaukee, Ann (Dave Duquette) Romenesko, DePere, and Amy (Cory Coleman) Romenesko, Milwaukee, and 16 grandchildren Brian (Tanya) Romenesko, Adam (Angela ) Romenesko, Erin (Jason) Buss, Jonelle (Victor) Romenesko, Dana (Stan) Romenesko, Dawn Romenesko and “Scribble”, Elizabeth Romenesko, Jessica Romenesko, Dustin Romenesko, Neil (Jessica) Green, Abigail (David) Flores, Anthony Green, Kayla Green, David (Samantha) Jacob, Jon Jordon (Nikki) Reese, and Kayla Marie Romenesko, 12 great grandchildren; Adrianna Greene, Isabel Greene, Curran Buss, Korbyn Buss, Trenton Romenesko, Joseph Romenesko, Xander Green, Ayden Green, Isabella Flores, Ruby Flores, Ahsoka Jacob, and Parker Jordon Reese. Orv is further survived by six brothers; Ken Romenesko, Appleton, Bob (Eunice) Romenesko, Kimberly, Merle (Rosie) Romenesko, Walworth, Gerry (Pat) Romenesko, Appleton, Clyde (Margaret) Romenesko, DePere, Vernon (Barbara) Romenesko, Appleton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Orv was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Isabel, a sister, Arlene Vosters, a brother Ray and sisters-in-law Laverne, Cleo and Rose Romenesko.

The funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH (W2037 County Road S, Kaukauna) with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Internment will be in the St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery following the Mass with military honors accorded at the grave. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the Church on Friday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Orv's name.
