Norman E. Glasel

December 5, 1926 — March 17, 2010

Norman Glasel, age 83, passed into the arms of his Lord on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Norm was born and baptized in Wausau on December 5, 1926, son of the late Louis and Mary (Jaecks) Glasel. He served in the United States Army from 1946 until 1947, and on December 15, 1951 married the former Sharon Graebel. They enjoyed fifty-eight good years together. After his discharge from the army, Norm was employed in Wausau by the Ritter & Deutch Funeral Home. He also worked for Juneau Supply until taking a position with Consolidated Freightways. After receiving a transfer to the CF Neenah Terminal in 1961, he made his lifelong home in Menasha. He later worked in retail sales at Bohlmann's Paint and Decorating in Neenah, until his retirement in 1989. Norm loved fishing, gardening, playing cards, reading, and playing his accordion. A man of great faith, Norm served in many different capacities at his church.

Survivors include his wife: Sharon Glasel of Menasha; two sons: Rob (Christine) Glasel; and Scott (Connie) Glasel; six grandchildren: Jon (Lora) Glasel, Dr. Tiffany Glasel and her special friend Dan Schraufnagel, Nicole Glasel, Christopher Glasel and his fiancée Annie Grossman, Shawn Glasel, and Terri Glasel; a great-granddaughter: Zoe Glasel; a sister: Irene Zastrow; a brother-in-law: Robert Hartkopf; and two sisters-in-law: Mildred Glasel and Mavis Hartkopf; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Goldie Streble, brothers Clarence Glasel and Floyd Glasel, sisters-in-law Vivian Hartkopf and Mayme Hartkopf, and brothers-in-law Wilbert Zastrow, and Charles Streble, Harold Hartkopf, and Gordon Hartkopf.

The Christian Funeral for Norm will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 W. Seymour Street in Appleton with Rev. Adam Bode and Rev. Donald Ninmer officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park at a later date. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

Norm's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church as well as everyone at Affinity Hospice. We will never forgot your kindness.
