Nila Y. Pegel, age 80, died Wednesday evening, at Franciscan Care Center. She was born April 4, 1926, to the late Lyle and Alice (Angus) Ray, in Dale, WI and became an Appleton resident in 1946, following her marriage to Eugene E. Pegel. Nila had been employed by Appleton Medical Center and enjoyed bowling, golf and bingo. Nila greatly enjoyed the love of her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include four daughters, Carol Hansel; Valerie Metzenbauer; Kathleen Pegel, all of Appleton; Vickie (Ron) Hietpas, Little Chute; three sons, Dennis (Barbara) Pegel, Appleton; Steve (Bonnie) Pegel, Waupaca; Scott Pegel and his special friend, Lisa Foye, Appleton; eight grandchildren, Stacey (Roger) Luedtke, Shana (Adam) Hussin, Tara Pegel, Elliot Pegel, Derek Metzenbauer, Michelle (Nick) Leary, Brittney and Brooke Hietpas; four great grandchildren, Rachael and Ryan Luedtke, Paige and Hunter Hussin; a sister, Myrna Whiteneck; a brother-in-law, Jake (Jan) Pegel; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Pegel, August 19, 1993, two brothers and a sister. Funeral services for Nila will be held at 12:00 pm (Noon), Saturday, July 22, 2006, at the funeral home, with Chaplain Joan Bartman officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am, Saturday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
