Appleton – Myrtle M. Ahrens, 95, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Brewster Village, Appleton. She was born on November 4, 1925, in New Denmark, Wisconsin, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Kroogman) Voeks. Myrtle was a member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. She grew up in Center, WI on the family farm, where she cleaned houses and she loved to go to 12 Corners to dance. She married Edwin Ahrens, Jr. in 1942 and moved to Appleton where she held administrative positions at various companies including Miller Electric, Badger Northland, and she performed Elderly Job Placement for the State of WI. Divorced in 1964, she for many years maintained her own home, and prided herself in her beautiful yard on Palisades Dr. where all neighborhood dogs gravitated to her for hugs. Autumn ignited Myrtle’s love of baking and she was known for her famous “Apple Cake” that she baked and shared with all who loved it. She had a special place in her heart for longtime friends Vicky Weiland and Kathryn Stewart whose generous help enabled her to stay in her home until age 93. Also in that special heart place is her niece Shirley (Raddatz) Thede and Sherry Bruemmer for their kindness.
