Nelson, Myron J. “Mike”

Myron J. Nelson, age 77, of Neenah, passed away with dignity in the loving presence of his family, October, 20, 2006. Mike was born November 9, 1928 to the late Myron W. and Mildred (Weinke) Nelson, in Neenah, where he attended schools. By the age of 16 he worked full time, by the age of 17 he had his Solo Pilots License. He flew many planes including Piper Cubs and Cherokees. On February 16, 1952, Mike married Joan P. Holinbeck. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2002. They have two daughters. Mike was a member of the National Guard and was a Power Squadron Instructor. He was a machinist by trade and built many machines. He was also a welder, electrical engineer, architect, draftsman and worked on marine engines. He took great pride in his work. Mike enjoyed fishing, car racing and model airplane building.
Mike is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Pat Schweitzer and Lynn Nelson; grandsons Eric (Penny) Schweitzer, Kris (Teresa) Schweitzer; siblings, Keith (Judy) Nelson, Lana (Wally) Angell, Norm (Mary) Nelson; family friend, Robert Seiler, many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service for Mike will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at the funeral home with Deacon Gerard Schraufnagel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
