Miles E. Gibbons

Miles E. Gibbons, age 93 of Kimberly, passed away peacefully, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, surrounded by his family, on December 29, 2015. Miles was born on January 8, 1922 to Le Roy and Alice (Grahl) Gibbons. He was a graduate of Fond Du Lac High School, Ripon College and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps in North Africa, France, Corsica and Italy. On December 6, 1952 he married Margery L. Weber and they enjoyed over 63 years together. Miles began his career with Thorp Finance Corporation immediately following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin. He began in Beaver Dam and over his 25 year career, worked his way up to Vice President of Finance. He also taught Executive Banking and Financial Banking Services at the University of Colorado, Boulder and Iowa State. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Elks in Eau Claire and Appleton. He was a former member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Appleton.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Margery, children: Sandra (Mark) Vollbrecht of Sheboygan; Dawn Schulz of Appleton; Michelle (Dean) Kappell of Neenah; Michael Gibbons of Appleton, grandchildren: Kelly Vollbrecht of Sheboygan; Kempton Freeman of Appleton; Andrew Kappell of Eau Claire; Lydia Kappell of Neenah; Alexa Mueller of Neenah; Ashley Christal of Appleton, great-grandchildren: Harlin Freeman of Appleton; Brynn Kappell of Eau Claire, as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Dorothy Scandrett.
Memorial Service for Miles will be at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri County location on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at 2:30pm. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00pm. For more information and to express online condolences, please visit www.wichmannfargo.com.
