ROMENESKO, MILDRED M. “MILLY”

Mildred Romenesko, formerly of Kaukauna, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Brewster Village with her family by her side. She was born on February 12, 1922 in Menasha, the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Suchadolski) Wilda. On November 20, 1944, Mildred married Mark “Sparky” Romenesko at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Menasha. Milly was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and reading. Mildred looked forward to her trips to the Kaukauna Community Library, and had a special interest in local and U.S. history. She had a passion for the arts, and loved going to plays and musicals. Milly's travels were highlighted by her memorable trip to New York City and Broadway with her children. Her family meant the world to her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Mildred is survived by her children: Janine Vanevenhoven, Shiocton; Carolyn (Bill) Shepeck, Appleton and Jim Romenesko, Appleton; five grandchildren: Mark (Darlene), Lee (Tonya) and Jeff (Caroline) Vanevenhoven; Jennifer (Chad “Chummy”) Ullmer and Kati (fiancée Justin Kersten) Garrity; twelve great grandchildren: Zachariah, Jacob, Olivia, Noah, Abby, Ryan, Reese, Zoe, Lilly, Alayna, Hannah and Hayden; four sisters-in-law: Martha Jacobs, Gerry St. Arnold, Marie (Richard) Powers and Fran Hutton. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Milly was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Romenesko; son-in-law, John Vanevenhoven; three sisters: Gertrude Omachinski, Eleanor Alfertig and Dorothy Handler; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

The funeral liturgy for Mildred will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Father Tom Pomeroy will be officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 1:30 pm until the time of mass. The family welcomes memorials in lieu of flowers.

Words cannot express the deep appreciation Milly's family has for the gentle, loving care, family atmosphere and unending compassion provided by the staff and volunteers of Brewster Village, especially her friends on Lawrence Hall, who made the past four years as joyful as they could possibly be. A very special thanks to Michelle, Richard and Bill and all the others who were such wonderful friends to our Mom.
