Mike A. Nordlee

September 8, 1959 — August 31, 2019

Michael Allen Nordlee, age 59, of Appleton, Wisconsin passed away on August 31, 2019 in the comfort of his own home with his wife, Amy, at his side.

Michael was born on September 8, 1959 in Janesville, WI to the late Jerald and Kay (Voss) Nordlee. Following graduation from Janesville Parker High School in 1978, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, serving from 1980-1983.

Most of Mike’s working career was in the overhead garage door business, with residential installation being his strong point, as well as doing service, sales and being in the shop. He also had a job delivering auto supplies and shuttling cars for a local dealership.

Mike was living in Milwaukee, WI when he and Amy met in 1987. He decided to move to Appleton in 1989 to closer to Amy. Mike and Amy were married October 3, 1992 in a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony. Together they enjoyed camping and fishing in Northern Wisconsin, attending music festivals, concerts, traveling and playing cribbage. Mike loved singing and playing guitar and enjoyed jam sessions with friends. His music will be dearly missed.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Amy; sisters, Julie Nordlee of Lincoln, NE and Kathleen Crisman of Janesville; siblings-in-law, Brian (Jill James) Brandt of Portland, OR and Meredith (Phil) Seidl of Eau Claire, WI; numerous dear nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by parents-in-law, Nanette (Derold) Bohren and Harvey Brandt; and brother-in-law, Mark Crisman.

Mike’s family would like to give acknowledgement to the doctors and nurses at ThedaCare RMC of Appleton for the care they gave him for nearly 2 weeks. They would also like to thank the Hospice team and good friends who came to the house when Mike was able to return home.

A memorial service will be planned for Mike at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s name may be made to GuitarsforVets.org or NEWLT.org (Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust).
