My deepest condolences and sympathy to the Geniesse family. I am very sorry for your loss, As a long-time member of CFCU, Mike had helped us with construction and home loans and I found him to be one of the most helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable employees of the CU. He had a great sense of humor and was very professional. I know he will be dearly missed. May the pain in your hearts heal with time.

I am really going to miss this guy. Miss the talks, debates, his amazing cooking, but most of all I will miss the way he took care of my sister, “Cheri.” I loved watching them interact and saw how deeply he loved and cared for her. As much as he didn’t like cats, he loved seeing how happy they made my sister and if the truth be known, I really think he liked them too. He was one of the kindest people I knew, wasn’t afraid of giving his opinion even if you disagreed he listened with grace. Thanks Mike for so many years of great memories, being an amazing husband to my sister and a phenomenal father to your 3 boys and daughter. We will all miss you dearly. Kari Koenigs

His true love for all of you showed in the stories he shared. What a stand up guy! Always there to support and help work through problems or questions. Great coworker and friend. Mike was a great friend and neighbor; he will be missed by all who knew him. Here are just a few things I’m going to miss about Mike; ( many more to mention) His honesty and true-fullness. Friday nights were reserved for VO Whiskey and 7up. If he owned it you could borrow it, sometimes he even had to come to our house and hunt it down to get it back! ( he was never upset by that) He always listened first and then gave a thoughtful response. Borrowing his truck!! Walking over to their house and Finding him and Cheri on the back patio! Going to Octoberfest at 8am to see the taping of the keg! He loved to wear a suit. All of these things make me smile and think of all the happy times. We’ll miss you Mike! Love, Patti

My thoughts and prayers go out to Cheri and the whole family. Patti and I have been friends with Mike and Cheri for many years. I apologize for taking so long to write this. I think that I haven't begun to process Mike's loss. Words can't express what a great human being Mike was. I loved and respected Mike and simply can't believe that he is gone. Mike was a lot of fun to spend time with. He always had such a great sense of humor along with a lot of wisdom to pass along. Mike loved his family and I know that they meant the world to him. I think that Mike is one of those guys that touched everyone that had the privilege to know him. The world was a better place because Mike was in it and it will be a void that can't be replaced. I have to believe that God has a plan for Mike. My condolences to Cheri and the family. God be with you.

Mike meant a lot to a lot of people. I am going to miss my Uncle Mike so much. My family and I were in denial at first and then sadness, but Mike would want us to be happy and remember him in a good way. We had many great memories with him and he was one of the smartest people I knew. He died too soon and it doesn’t seem fair. As a Christian I was taught to know God always has a plan, but I can’t figure out this plan. So we need to stay strong and remember the good times we had through this awful time. I love you Uncle Mike and life won’t be the same without you.

The world could not have lost a better person than Mike. Mike is truly a mentor, an inspiration, and a leader. He is what we all inspire to be. He loved his family, he loved his work family, he was extremely dedicated to every member he worked for and gave everyone 100% - sometimes to his own detriment which I constantly yelled at him for :) He was there to listen to us and we were there in return, like family is supposed to be. I am very blessed to have met Mike and able to spend the last 7 years with him, I'm so sorry that it was way to short. When I would send trainee's to him, i would always give the trainees the same "speech" Mike is direct, but trust me, he is really a big teddy bear. There is going to be a big void in a lot of people's life, I really hope Mike knew just how amazing he was. My sincerest condolences to Mikes Family. Thank you for the great conversation on Friday, it will forever be in my heart. You will be missed my friend.

I had the great pleasure of working with Mike for the last five years, in the last 2 my office was right across the hall. A more knowledgeable and dedicated man will never be found. Mike would figure out a way to work magic for his members, coming up with solutions no one else could think of. He was always willing to stay late, come in early, and take time out of his busy and hectic day to answer questions. And yet he was also so so humble about the work he did and the effort he put in. I had nothing but the utmost respect for him as a coworker and friend. You will be greatly missed Mike. My thoughts, prayers, and condolences are with your family and friends.

We are so sorry for the loss of this kind hearted man who made such a difference in our lives when we needed it the most. My son and I met with Mike three years ago while he worked a little magic so we could house swap. My husband was in a nursing home at that time. Our daughter with disabilities, was able to remain in our former home, purchased by our son and his family, who continue to provide her care. And my husband and I were able to purchase and down-size into their former home. This arrangement was made possible through Mike’s financial guidance and we will always be grateful. Our deepest sympathy to Mike’s family and friends.

The thought of owning a home, on my own, was scary. Mike made it all come true, educating me on exactly what to expect along the way. He made it one of the best financial decisions in my life, the smart way. When he talked about his own family and life experiences, his face lit up...I’ll never forget that part of our conversation. Please accept my deepest sympathy and also, gratitude. Lifting you up in prayer.

I recently became apart of the team where Mike worked. I had worked with him a little over the previous years but immediatley was working directly with him over the past few weeks. I was talking with him one morning about myself, him and some work. Telling him a story. Trying to keep it short and to the point leaving out some details. He looked at me and said "Now I want to hear the whole story". Even over a brief period of time he impacted my life and made me feel apart of the team.

You were the go to guy for any mortgage question, as you knew it all, truly amazing at what you did and just a wonderful person! My funniest memory that I will forever cherish is when you came into my office and asked me if I just put lotion on, I responded with a yep, and you said something along the lines of please don’t do it again it stinks (too strong), haha! I never once put that lotion on again, even when my office was further down the aisle from you! Just one of the many fond memories I’ll remember. I’ll always remember your love of St Pattys day too, when it rolls around again I’ll be sure to have a cold one for you! Rest In Peace my friend.

I had the great pleasure of working with Mike for many years. He took so much pride in the work he did. His way of looking at things and finding anyway to make something work was amazing. But more than just an amazing co-worker, he was truly an amazing man! He taught me so much about life in general through his humor, through his words, and through his actions. To say he’ll be missed is an understatement. I was extremely blessed to have known him. To his family, I can’t even imagine the pain you are going through. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. RIP Mike, you were truly 1 of a kind!

Mike and I worked together for over 20 years. He was our best at what he did. I knew that I could always give him a challenge and that he would take it in stride knowing that maybe nobody else could handle it. His humor, work ethic, member service and just how he cared for people made him what he was. Sure, he'll be missed as an employee, but much more, a great person who loved helping people and a friend.
