GARVEY, MICHAEL

Michael Garvey, age 87, of DePere, died on Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. Mike was born on the home farm on December 18, 1917, in Oneida to the late Patrick and Margaret (Murphy) Garvey. He married Florence Helen Wallace on February 22, 1938, in Freedom. Mike and Florence raised nine children, built their own home and farming business, raising a prize-winning herd of dairy cattle, later prime beef. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Florence; children, Thomas (Donna) Garvey, Oneida; Beverly Manning, Bosque Farms, New Mexico; Phyllis (Mike) Randerson, Appleton; John Garvey, Roosevelt, Arizona; Mary Ellen (Bill) Patterson, Phoenix, Arizona; Mark Garvey, Oneida; Michael (Vonnie) Garvey, Kaukauna; Colleen Garvey, Green Bay; 30 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and his brother Robert “Buzz” Garvey, Freedom. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Garvey; his son-in-law, Arthur Manning; his sister, Irene; and his brothers, Jim and Bill. Friends may call at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Tri-County Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Wednesday, August 3, 2005. Following the visitation, a time of fellowship and luncheon will be held. Entombment will be in Allouez Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
