OBERWEISER, MAY E.

May Oberweiser, 89, of Appleton, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, June 4, 2010. She was born on July 12, 1920 in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Christianson) Boettner. May was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Christian Mothers and the Neenah Menasha Elk's Ladies. May volunteered with Christ Child Society and knitted many layettes for infants over the years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, painting and word search. May had a love for the outdoors, including watching and feeding the birds and gardening.

She is survived by her children: Tom (Judy) Oberweiser, Linda (Jim) Gaerthofner, Mary (Jerry) Rankin and Amy (Tom) Maloney; 11 grandchildren: Michael (Gloria) Oberweiser and Brian (Julie) Oberweiser; Joe (Jen) Gaerthofner, Laura (Dave) Richert, Andy (Amy) Gaerthofner and Emmy (Brian) Stoecklein; Stacy (John) Kokalj, Jennifer Nelson and Tim (Alissa) Rankin; Erin and Kelly Maloney; 12 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Grace and Dorothy Boettner. May is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John Oberweiser and her brothers, Roy and Earl Boettner.

The funeral liturgy for May will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton. Father Don Zuleger will be officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the St. Joseph Food Pantry.

Special thanks to the staff at Fox River Assisted Living for embracing our family as a part of yours for four years. Thank you to Brewster Village for the loving care extended to our mother and us.
