Mary Kay Slinger

Mary Kay Slinger of Appleton passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday January 4th, 2019. Mary was a lifetime Appleton resident who graduated from Appleton West High School. Mary went on to meet her husband of 43 years Rick Slinger during her 36-year tenure at Gilbert Paper Company in Menasha where they worked together. Mary enjoyed many things in life including her love of motorcycles and going for long rides with Rick. Mary cherished her time with family every summer “up north” in Minocqua and created many lifelong friendships with people that she met while enjoying her time at Pine Hill Resort on Lake Kawaguesaga. Mary took pride in teaching everyone in the family how to waterski and catch the biggest perch.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Crystal Schwandt of Appleton as well as her daughter Stacy Slinger. Mary is survived by her sister Lorre Lynde and Lorre’s husband Frank as well as Mary’s husband Rick and their three children: Brian Slinger and his wife Mercedes, Jesse Slinger and his wife Angela, and Kristin Slinger. Mary is further survived by her two grandchildren who she cherished and spoiled every chance she had: Addison and Austin Slinger (Jesse and Angela).

The family would like to thank the staff at Theda Care Medical Center of Appleton for their care and compassion for Mary and the family during her stay there. The nursing staff and Hospice team provided a comfortable peaceful atmosphere for Mary and the family.
The Memorial service for Mary will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 5:30 PM at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida St., Menasha. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 3:30 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
