Mary E. Vanden Boogard

VANDEN BOOGARD, MARY E.

Mary E. Vanden Boogard, age 86, of Kimberly, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Appleton Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on January 13, 1925, in Wrightstown, the daughter of the late John and Marie (Vanden Wymelenberg) Van Vreede. On May 31, 1947, Mary married Joseph Vanden Boogard at St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks. She graduated from Holy Family Nursing School in Manitowoc. Mary started her career as a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital and retired as a supervisor of surgical nurses at Kaukauna Community Hospital. After retirement Mary volunteered as the school nurse at Holy Name School. She was a leader for many years with the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Mary enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, horseshoes, and traveling. She looked forward to the camping trips with friends at Bear Lake. Mary was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly. Her family meant the world to her.

Mary is survived by her children: Patricia “Trish” (Alan) Erickson, Fond du Lac; Judy (David) Delain, Luxemburg; Jim (Kathy) Vanden Boogard, De Pere; Mark “Boogs” (Sue) Vanden Boogard, Darboy; Anne (Brian) Leach, Neenah; John “Rocky” (Mary) Vanden Boogard, Appleton; Paul (Jim Vandehey) Vanden Boogard, Kimberly and Dan Vanden Boogard, Menomonee Falls; grandchildren: Michelle (Brian) Behnke, Curtis Erickson and Craig Erickson; Kisha (Charles Schmidt) Delain, Eric (Erica) Delain, Megan (George) Jimenez and Kimberly Delain; Mindy Vanden Boogard and Jacob Vanden Boogard; Richard J. (Regan) Vanden Boogard, Joe Vanden Boogard, Adam (fiancé Nicki) Vanden Boogard, Kari Vanden Boogard and Bret Vanden Boogard; Jon Westbrook and Aaron (fiancé Tatiana) Westbrook; Jennifer Vanden Boogard, Andy Vanden Boogard and Scott Vanden Boogard; Amanda Hoffmann, Joshua Vanden Boogard and Ciara Vanden Boogard; great-grandchildren: Savanna, Nicholas, Jayden, Evan, Jackson, Amaya and Aariana; sisters-in-law: Joann Van Boogard, Kimberly; Sally Van Vreede, Menasha and Margaret Verstegen, Menasha and brother-in-law: Alois (Mary Jean) Vanden Boogard, Darboy. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Vanden Boogard; brothers: Norbert (Millie) Van Vreede, Cyril Van Vreede, Cletus (Verna) Van Vreede, John (Sylvia) Van Vreede and Roger Van Vreede; brothers-in-law: Eugene Verstegen, Eugene Vanden Boogard and Richard Vanden Boogard and her sister-in-law: Dorothy (Jim) Malone.

The funeral liturgy for Mary will be held at 5:30 pm on Monday, November 21, 2011 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue. Fr. David Beaudry will be officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 3:00 pm until 5:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Community Benefit Tree are appreciated.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, Theresa, Mary and Angie for their loving care and commitment to Mary.
