Marvin E. Drews

April 5, 1936 — November 7, 2014

Marvin Drews, age 78, of Appleton was called to his eternal home on November 7, 2014 at Living Tree Estates. Marv was born in the town of Center on April 5, 1936, the son of the late Elmer and Ida (Buman) Drews. He married the love of his life, Audrey Struck, on September 7, 1957 at Riverview Lutheran Church, Appleton. Marv helped farm the family farm until he began working at Twelve Corners Cheese Factory as a cheese maker and milk hauler. After moving to Appleton and starting a family, he started working at Wichmann Furniture; first as a delivery man and then as the furniture repairman. He enjoyed 27 ½ years of employment at Wichmann's, until the closing of the store in 1988. He then worked at American TV and Appliance as the furniture repairman until retirement. Marv and Audrey didn't sit around after retirement – he enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors with any type of odd special projects that needed to be done. He also enjoyed attending the grandchildren's sporting and school events, hunting, fishing, and especially enjoyed cutting and painting outdoor wood ornaments.

Marv is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years: Audrey; four daughters: Donna Drews, Jan (Steve) Buss, Ardell (Tim) Meeuwsen, and Shelley Drews; four grandchildren: Stephanie (Ryan) Geiger, Lucas Meeuwsen and his special friend Bobi, Andy (Johanna) Buss, Brian Meeuwsen and special friend Sarah; a great grandchild Ayla Geiger and another expected in March. Other survivors include a sister: Gladys (Gordon) Bruhn; a brother: Ivan Drews; two sisters-in-law: Delores (Arlin) Tesch and Darleen (Roger) Herrmann; as well as many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws: Harvey and Frieda (Schuelke) Struck; a sister: Dolores (Lyle) Kubitz; a brother: Merlin (Dawn) Drews; and a sister-in-law: Joann Drews.

The Christian Funeral for Marv will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Freedom's Community Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Marv's family would like to thank Dr. Sandra Groenwald, Dr. Janine Buffo, and everyone at Southern Care Hospice for the care they provided. A very special thanks also to the staff and nurses at Living Tree Estates for the wonderful and compassionate care and friendship provided for Marv and his family.

Although you may be gone from this earth, you will always be in our hearts. We will miss your smile and the twinkle in your eye. For all that you have given us we will be forever grateful. We will miss you greatly, but know we will be with you again some day in heaven. Love you with all our hearts. Audrey and family.
