Martin H. Hubers

April 11, 1930 — February 14, 2005

Spec, as he was known to all, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, February 14, 2005 at the age of 74. Spec was born April 11, 1930, in Kimberly, son of the late Henry and Wilhelmina (Vandennewenheisen) Hubers. Spec married the former Marlene Revoir on October 13, 1956; she preceded him in death in 2001. As a young man, Spec was employed at Adler Brau Brewery in Appleton, and in 1968 he received the “job of a lifetime” working for the Village of Kimberly until his retirement in 1992. Spec enjoyed visiting his sons’ cottages, fishing, tinkering in his garage, and had a passion for inventing many things. He was very talented in many areas, but he was best known for his wood carvings which were displayed with pride in his yard for many years. Spec always enjoyed caring for the family pets, especially Sasha, Lady, and Sparkles.

Survivors include six children: Cindy (David) Wallace of Little Chute; Dawn (George) Schmidt of Darboy; Joe (Lori) Hubers of Darboy; Mark (Janet) Hubers of Darboy; Shelly (Bruce) Zeinert of Little Chute; Sherry (Rick) Bevers of Freedom; twelve grandchildren: Amanda, Christy, and Bradly Wallace; Matthew, Michael, and Michelle Schmidt; Lukas and Rebecca Hubers; Jeffrey and Jennifer Zeinert; Brice, and Jacob Bevers; two great-granddaughters: Caitlin and Madison Wallace; two sisters-in-law: Jane Revoir and Betty DeBroux, both of Kimberly; two brothers-in-law: Mark Recker and Paul Recker both of Appleton; a special nephew: Mike Recker. Also surviving are numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many good friends. Spec was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlene in 2001, a grandson Ryan Bevers, sisters Min Lucason, Anne Recker, Nettie Recker, Elizabeth Hubers, a brother Arnold (Anne) Hubers; four brothers-in-law: Ernest (Grace) Revoir, Donald Revoir, Pat Revoir, and Dave Revoir; and a sister-in-law: Kay (Wilbur) Pomeroy. Spec was also preceded in death by his dear friend, The Belgian, whose friendship over the years he greatly treasured.

The funeral liturgy for Spec will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue with Fr. Thomas Pomeroy officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the many caring neighbors for keeping a watchful eye on our father.

Pa, thank you for both the courage and knowledge you passed on to us in pursing our dreams and helping them come true.

–Your loving kids.
