Marlee Rae Buss

June 1, 1993 — December 19, 2016

After years of battling an eating disorder, Marlee Rae Buss, age 23, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Monday, December 19, 2016. Marlee was born on June 7, 1993 to Scott and Eileen (Schommer) Buss.

Marlee was born in Kimberly, Wisconsin but she attended grade school in Evans, Georgia and San Antonio, Texas before returning to the Fox Valley where she graduated in 2011 from Kimberly High School. In 2016, she graduated from Fox Valley Technical College with an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a natural athlete and made many friends and countless memories playing sports in Georgia, Texas and Wisconsin. She played basketball, ran track and cross country, but her true passion was soccer. She played high school soccer at Kimberly and club soccer in Neenah with the Neenah Knockouts and Neenah Nutmeg.

Marlee was also fiercely devoted to her favorite sports team, the San Antonio Spurs and frequently spent her time trying to convince anyone and everyone to cheer for them.

After her playing days were over she began working part-time at the Appleton YMCA in their childcare department where she discovered her passion working with children. In her own words, “The more I learn about child development and early childhood the more I fall in love with my job.” Her part-time work turned into full time work as she pursued her degree. Along the way she formed special bonds with the children she cared for and they loved her dearly.

Marlee is survived by her parents, Scott and Eileen Buss, her sister Sydney Buss, her paternal grandparents; Ronald J. Buss, Shiocton, Mary C. Buss Fort Meyers, Florida, aunts and uncles; Lance (Peggy) Buss, Dana (Tom) Reese, Deb (Randy) Markusen, Tim (Karla) Schommer, Carol Schommer, Julie (Bob) Wyngaard, Jim (Tracy) Schommer, cousins; Shaylah, Ally, Trevor, Shasta, Jesse (Mandy), Wesley (Nikki), Kim (Justin), Luke (Ashley), Reece and Phin, her dog Duncan and a very special friend Ryan and his daughter Jadyn.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Ray and Betty Schommer and her Aunts Janet and Nancy Schommer.
