Marjorie "Marge" A. Tate

April 23, 1930 — January 28, 2017

Marjorie Ann (Maas) Tate, 86 years, returned to the Lord January 28, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born April 23, 1930 to Albert and Sophie Maas in Neenah, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Menasha High School Class of 1948. Owen and Marjorie (Maas) Tate were married on April 19, 1952, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Menasha. She was a full-time mother who loved her family and also worked part-time at George Banta Company and Checker Warehouse for several years. She formed life-long friendships with the ladies she worked with and they met often for lunch.

Marge played Sheepshead with her neighborhood ladies for over 40 years, was an avid crafter, sewer, gardener and enjoyed making quilts for all of her family members. She loved constructing miniature doll houses, painting, and wood carving. The Packers held a special place in her life and you knew not to call her during a game, as she was glued to the TV. Her passion of growing gourds and painting them into works of art brought special joy to her.

After her husband Owen had retired they traveled extensively around the world. They bought a fifth wheel and when not at their Wausaukee, Wisconsin cottage fishing or enjoying the outdoors, they would travel the United States looking for new adventures.

Marge had a 'sharp mind' and would talk about the world news and politics. She was well informed and loved to share her knowledge with her daughters. She was the happiest when all of her four daughters would spend time with her. Marge loved when her grandchildren called or came over and visited.

Marge will be missed by her daughters Mary Kay (Greg) Birling, Peggy Goodman, Diane (Rob) Holewinski, and Kathy (Mike) Hecker, grandchildren Angela (Dan) Hermanson, Amanda Birling, Jon, Nikki, Lance, and Amber Goodman, Ryan, and Natalie Holewinski, and Michael Hecker, great-grandchildren Lainey and Lyla Hermanson. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Owen on May 13, 1998, son-in-law Brian Goodman on May 22, 2014 a brother and two sisters.

Marge was a life-long member of St. John Catholic Church in Menasha. Per her wishes a private Funeral Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
