Marie Vander Zanden

Marie R. Vander Zanden, age 98, of Kimberly, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at St. Paul Home. Marie was born on May 31, 1912, in Lena, Wisconsin, to the late Elton and Eva (Courchane) Allie. She married George Vander Zanden on November 10, 1930; they enjoyed 53 years together. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1983.

She was a graduate of Kimberly High School in 1930. Marie was employed at the K.C. Club House and also at Prange Way. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and loved to bake. Marie was well-known for her unique laugh.

Survivors include her nine children,

Nancy Haas, Kimberly and her children, Randy (Ginny) Schrantz, Cindy Brown, Ron (Rachel) Schrantz, Marie (Bill) Rohrer, Russ Schrantz and Amy (Scott) Williams;

Lila “Dickie” (Ken) Schumacher, Freedom, and their children, Gary (Terri) Schumacher, Sandy (Greg) Schuh, Trish (Tom) Bongers and Missy (Chris) Eis;

Diane (Harry) Wirth, Kimberly, and their children, Susan (Jim) Hill, Dan (Vicky) Wirth, Tom (Angie) Wirth, Tim (Cathy) Wirth, Scott (Terri) Wirth, Lynn (Mark) Engel, Jay Wirth and Shari Wirth;

Norene Danke, Waupaca, and her children, Dennis (Cathy) Danke, Dawn (Tim) Lemke and Debbie (Rollie) Hermus;

Joyce (Bob) Much, Elcho, and their children, Bob Much, Jr. Sid (Patty) Schinke and Joey (Melissa) Schinke;

George Vander Zanden, Green Bay, and his children, Laura Buettner, Mark (Carrie) Vander Zanden and Kristen Vander Zanden;

Lynn Oatman, Appleton, and her children, Stacey (Bill) Butler, Robin (Bob) Mayfield, Jon (Collette) Wolfinger and Amber (fiancée Matt Dictus) Oatman;

Alan (Samantha) Vander Zanden, Minneapolis, and his children, Mike (Amy) Vander Zanden and Joey (Rod) Reader;

and David (Pam) Vander Zanden, Appleton, and their children, Adam, Brent and Drew Vander Zanden; and 58 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, June (Gene) Appleton, Audrey (Pete) Valentyne, Janie Hietpas, Peggy (Dick) Van Himbergen and Bonnie Vander Velden; and her sisters-in-law, Joan Krueger and Irene Krueger. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Edward Krueger; a son-in-law: Leon Danke, a sister, four brothers and a special aunt and friend, Idella Schwanke. The Funeral Liturgy will be at NOON on Friday, December 17, 2010, at HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Rev. Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Holy Name Catholic Church Cemetery, Kimberly. A memorial has been established in her name.
