Marie V. Young

Marie “Birdie” V. Young, 79, of Kaukauna, passed away on Sunday, August 07, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Marie was born on January 1, 1932 to the late Aaron and Esther (Dunst) Summers. She married Joseph Young Jr. on February 10, 1951. Marie was the glue that brought the family together and was the “Boss” at home. She was the best Mom and homemaker and liked to crochet and made the best home made bread. Marie was always there for her children and grandchildren and the time she spent with them will always be treasured. She also had a green thumb, loved having rummage sales and going to them and was a Packer fan especially a Brett Favre fan. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.

Marie is survived by her husband, Joe, Kaukauna, seven children; Audrey (David) Verhagen, Kaukauna, Betty (John) Adams, Waupaca, Mary (John) Endres, Land O'Lakes, Fred (Karen) Young, Kaukauna, Carol (Greg) Wochinski, Kaukauna, Joe Young III, Kaukauna, Debbie (Chris) Balck, Kaukauna, nine grandchildren; David Jr., Kevin, Timothy, Matthew, Brian, Adam, Fred Jr., Andrea, and Jerry, 10 great grandchildren, a sister Margaret Drawenek, a brother Merlin (Bonnie) Summers, a sister-in-law, Margaret Summers, three grand dogs Casey, Tanner and Summer, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by two sisters Blanche (Syl) Mecikalski and Jean Nehring, two brothers, Thomas Summers and Garfield Summers and a brother-in-law, Joe Drawenek.
The funeral service for Marie will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 4:00 PM at IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST (510 Sullivan Ave, Kaukauna) with Pastor Melinda Feller officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the time of services at the Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all the care Marie received.
