Marie L. Pahl

February 20, 1913 — January 8, 2002

Age 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 08, 2002 at a local nursing center. Marie was born in Kaukauna on February 20, 1913, daughter of the late George and Mary (Freimuth) Hurst. On September 29, 1933, she married Benjamin Pahl in Appleton. He preceded her in death in 1984. Marie was an avid golfer, bowler, and bird watcher.

Survivors include two daughters: Sharon (Robert) Hoffmann of Clintonville and Joann (Charles) Hamilton of Kaukauna; three sons: Duane (Joan) Pahl of Menasha; Ron Pahl of Kaukauna and his special friend Eileen Gerrits; Bruce Pahl of Kaukauna; thirteen grandchildren: David Hoffmann and his fiancée Brenda Dobratz, Dennis (Denise) Hoffmann, Dawn (Steve) McGlin, Diana (Scott) Fuerst, Cari Pahl, Craig (Pam) Pahl, Dean Pahl and his special friend Connie Reinhardt, Kevin Anderson, Kurt (Stacy) Anderson, Kimberlee Pahl, Michele Pahl, Matthew Pahl, and Melynda Pahl; twelve great-grandchildren: Magen and Haley Fuerst, Dawson and Dayton Hoffmann, Crystal Geurts, Brandon and Dylan Bowers, Benjamin and Ashley Pahl, Amber Van Hammond, and Alyssa and Emily Anderson; two devoted sisters: Frances Senso of Kaukauna and Eleanor (Howard) Ingbretson of Kaukauna; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Hurst of Kaukauna and Caroline Seggelink of Neenah. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Benjamin in 1984, brothers Herbert (Marion) Hurst, Harold (Pearl) Hurst, George Hurst, sisters Helen (Harold) Powers and Mildred (Jerome) Dreger, brothers-in-law Clifton Senso, Bill Seggelink, and Frank Pahl, and a sister-in-law Catherine (Milton) Chosa.

The funeral liturgy for Marie will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 11, 2001 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Interment will be in Kelso Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.

Marie will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker and cook, as well as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cared for her family with all her heart. She will be dearly missed by those she loved and by those who loved her.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who made Marie’s final days so comfortable. They include the entire staff at Parkside Care Center, especially Linda, and the many physicians and nurses who treated mom at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She could have been in no better hands. Thank you all so very much.
