Maria R. Martinez

Maria R. Martinez, age 72, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born March 18, 1947, the daughter of Dionicio and Concepcion (Rodriguez) Reyna. Maria was united in marriage to Simon C. Martinez on April 15, 1967 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Maria loved to listen to music, dancing and her annual camping trip at Iola, WI with her family. She also enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maria’s true passion was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren spending time with them and being involved with everything they did.

Maria is survived by her husband, Simon; 7 children, Leticia Rivera, Mario (Gloria) Martinez, Margarita (Dan) Vasquez, Simon Martinez Jr, Nancy Gonzalez, Rachel Martinez and Gabriel Martinez; 15 grandchildren, Miguel Martinez, Nicholas Rivera, Zachary Vasquez, Jessica Brown, Ricardo(Tyler) Gonzalez Jr., Joey Vasquez, Oceana Martinez, Paul Anthony Rivera, Simon Gonzalez, Ryan Martinez, Stephen Gonzalez, Reyna Martinez, Belle Gonzalez, Zayne Vasquez and Olympia Martinez; 5 great- grandchildren, Akira Geriba, Ellena Gonzalez-Martinez, Aliana Brown, Ares Gonzalez, Caine Gonzalez-Martinez and Lavinia Vasquez.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Aurora Cruz; brothers, Fermin ‘Nan’, Alejandro ‘Hando’ and Jose ‘Joe’ Reyna.

Visitation for Maria will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, with a Vigil service following at 7 PM. A funeral service outiside of Mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E. Wisconsin Ave., Appleton. Family and friends may visit at the church from 9 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
