Maria Jaloszynski

February 6, 1934 — December 23, 2020

Maria (Sachs) Jaloszynski, age 86, passed away on December 23, 2020, at Brewster Village.

A lifelong Appleton resident, she was born 2/6/1934, the second of ten children of Albert and Elizabeth (Hegel) Sachs. Maria graduated from Appleton High School in 1952. She married Charles Kuchenberg in 1954. They were blessed with five children, which she raised by herself along with the help of her loving mother and sisters. She was a devoted mother who always put her children first.

Throughout her life she worked as a public servant, first for Outagamie County and then the State of Wisconsin as a placement specialist with Job Service – retiring after 27 years.

Gardening was a passion that she often called her therapy. She grew and canned lots of different vegetables. Maria was a great cook and baker. She prepared and sent dozens of Christmas cookies to her two sons and their friends in the military – to places all over the world. Her friends and extended family members also shared in the bounty of her garden and her yummy baked goods. She also enjoyed baking her graham gems for Father Ryan at St. Threse – her local parish.

In 1985, she was fortunate to marry the love of her life, Edwin Jaloszynski – blending their families together. She and Ed enjoyed many happy years, camping, crafting, and travelling. They joined a local Corvair club, making many lifelong friendships. With the car club, they were involved with many activities, including travelling, volunteering, and raising money for charities.

Maria was devoted to her community. She volunteered at church, Bubolz Nature Center, and spent time reading to young students at the elementary school by her home. She donated generously to many organizations throughout her life including churches and numerous Catholic charities. She sponsored a small girl in Central America and continued to help and communicate with her into the girl’s adulthood. Maria was a 60 year member of the American Legion. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Therese Catholic church.

Maria is survived by her children: Dan (friend Paula) Kuchenberg, Mike (Diane) Kuchenberg, Kathy (Mike) Doubleday, Greg (Cathie) Kuchenberg, Colleen (Ron) Waugh, Dave (Linda) Jaloszynski, and Ricky (Penny) Jaloszynski; her siblings: Jean (Allan) VanDaalwyk, Paul (Joanie) Sachs, Bernice (Jerry) Kohl, and Helen (Richard) Coughlin; her brothers-in-law Jack Best and Tom Engel. She leaves behind her legacy with 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Edwin, her parents, and siblings Karl Sachs, Marlene Best, Rita Engel, and sister-in-law Marlene Sachs. She also joins two infant sisters and many aunts and uncles.

The funeral liturgy for Maria will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at ST. THERESE PARISH, 213 E Wisconsin Ave, Appleton, with Father Ryan Starks. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. To view the livestream of Maria’s service, please visit her obituary page at www.wichmannfargo.com

The family would like to extend love and special thanks to the staff of Brewster Village. They became her family these past 10 months when we could not visit in person due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We know mom was safe, comfortable, and loved.

If heaven grants a special crown

To one who helps another,

Then we are sure the greatest one

Will be for you our Mother!
