How funny that Lisa mentions ear piercing. My mom, Jean Van Daalwyk (Maria's sister), reminisced just the other day that her sister Maria pierced her ears "with a potato!" at the kitchen table, with the younger kids "squealing in the background". My heart is also full of warm, loving memories of my Aunt Maria. She reminded me so much of grandma Elizabeth Sachs. While I was going through a particularly rough patch with my colicky first-born, she took the time to send me a note to reassure me that I was focusing on what was important and that everything else could wait - such as the dust bunnies, which I could do like Uncle Ed and "kick them under the refrigerator." It was just the right kind of humor and advisement I needed at that time and I'll never forget it (or make those dust bunnies a priority, even now after all these years)!

Aunt Maria was such a wonderful lady! She had a strong faith and I enjoyed my visits with her. She raised a great family and always put others first. I am certain that she is in heaven as she was a great Catholic example to so many. Joan and my condolences to her entire immediate family. God Bless You All! Dave

Losing somebody is always hard and for each person, it's hard in different ways. savor your relationship with them remember the good times and the hard times remember the times you felt loved by that person, and remember that they still love you, they are not gone they will be with you every single day of your life, they will be with you through every hard time, every trial and every happy moment, you will grow as a person and they will applaud you as you go. They are watching over you right now. remember it's okay to not be okay. They love you and they want you to be okay. No mater how hard a day is, it can always get better, when your going through a hard time be greatful for the small things, remmber even on the tough days the sun still shines, it may be though some cloulds but its still there.
