Mom was an outstanding wife, mother and grandmother. Our Mom and Dad would have celebrated 45 years of marriage the year that Dad left us. They were best friends. They could enjoy the simplest of life's pleasures and could also support and sustain each other during the saddest of times. They provided a home filled with love and positive energy. Never a day went by that we didn't hear those magic words from Mom “I love you”. Mom believed in us and taught us to believe in ourselves. She taught us to laugh at ourselves but never to laugh at others. Mom exhibited a kind, accepting nature to everyone she met and she loved and lived her Catholic faith. It didn't matter what country she was in or if the people around her spoke English- in minutes Mom had new friends. Forgiveness wasn't an option it was a requirement. Mom had a sense of humor that was crisp right to the end. She was a loving, involved and devoted Grandmother. Mom had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and she leaves each of them with a treasure chest of rich and lasting memories. She spoke often about the incredible gift each of them was in her life.
Mom loved her nieces and nephews and they loved her. She taught all of us to look forward but remember where you came from. That foundation will bring you strength and provide direction for what lies ahead.
We were all blessed with a lot of Irish wisdom and wit when we saw Mom and Aunt Ethel together. She always treasured the visits and phone calls they had together.
Mom we had to say goodbye and we didn't think we could. But you taught us by example that we would survive even these saddest moments. Thank you for the endless gifts you brought to each of us. We love you and will miss you everyday.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of 4 South at St. Elizabeth who made a hospital a home. We would also like to thank the wonderful hospice staff of Affinity Visiting Nurses, Dr. Kevin Mortara, Dr. Todd Speer and their staff. We would also like to thank Dr. Jack Anderson who was always there when we needed him.
We invite friends and family to join us for a service celebrating Mom's life on Thursday February 28, 2008. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm at St. Gabriel Church until the funeral mass at 6:00pm at St. Gabriel Church, Neenah with Father Robert Lexa officiating.
