Margaret (Heuser) Helms

August 4, 1915 — June 3, 2014

Margaret Helms, age 98, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Brewster Village. She was born on August 4, 1915, in the Town of Pittsfield, the daughter of the late Frank and Clara (Gerike) Heuser. On November 19, 1935, she married Walter Helms. After living for a time in Seymour, they moved to Appleton. Walter preceded her in death on April 8, 1964. Margaret worked for several years in retail sales in Appleton before retiring from food service at AAL (now Thrivent).

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Nancy Rehbein, Lakewood; grandson, Matthew Rehbein and wife Jodi Sedlock Rehbein, Appleton, a great granddaughter Ada Rehbein, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Anton, Raymond (Evelyn/Erna), Ralph (Margarite) and Jim (Carrie) Heuser; sisters, Frances (Jim) Matuszak and Myrtle (Bill) Hansen; brother-in-law Raymond (Lila/Bea) Helms, and sisters-in-law Elda (Ray) Tock and Frieda (Al) Benzschawel.

The funeral service for Margaret will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH – GAMMELIN CHAPEL, 912 N. Oneida Street in Appleton. Rev. Lloyd Luedeman will be officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held at the chapel from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of choice. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

The family would like to sincerely thank her neighbors, Dick and Sandy for all their help allowing Margaret to remain in her home for as long as possible, and the Cedar's staff at Brewster Village for their compassionate and loving care.
