Margarat H. Probst

May 28, 1919 — April 11, 2012

Margarat Probst, age 92, passed away at Brewster Village on Wednesday morning, April 11, 2012. Margarat was born in Burkey, North Dakota on May 28, 1919, daughter of the late John and Lybia (Gass) Brock. In 1924, the family relocated to Appleton where Margarat graduated from high school in 1937. On May 6, 1944, she married Archie Probst at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. After thirty-nine wonderful years of marriage, Archie passed away on October 19, 1983. Margarat was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was also a past president of their Christian Ladies Society. She also belonged to the Golden Agers Club sponsored by the Salvation Army, volunteered countless hours at St. Vincent DePaul, and was a life member of the Outagamie County Conservation Club. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, ceramics, camping, traveling, and the many years of playing canasta with her long-running card club. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three children: Pat Schaefer of Ellicott City, Maryland; Jan (Mike) Foxgrover of South Lake Tahoe, California; and David Probst of Appleton; seven grandchildren: Julie Schaefer; Scott (Anne) Schaefer; Paul (Shawna) Foxgrover; Amy Foxgrover (Creedence Shaw); Sara (Kirk) Bell; Chad (Lori) Probst; and Emily (Gary) Lewis; ten great-grandchildren: Brian, Brett, and Nicki Schaefer; Carter and Carissa Bell; Kale and Jillian Foxgrover; and Braden and J.D. Lewis; and Nora Probst; a step-great-grandson: Jay Taylor; a brother: Martin Brock of Appleton; three sisters-in-law: Harriet Brock of Appleton; Rosemary Probst of Kimberly; and Virginia Probst of Mackville. Margarat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Archie in 1983, sisters Irene Rondou DeShaney and Edna (Lloyd) Jones; sister-in-law: Beatrice Probst and Jeanetta (Fred) Steffens; and brothers-in-law Leonard Probst, Eugene Probst, Herky Probst, and Cliff Rondou.

The funeral liturgy for Margarat will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton with Fr. Thomas Farrell officiating.
