M. Madeline Hafenbreadl

August 15, 1938 — March 23, 2011

M. Madeline Hafenbreadl passed away on March 14, 2011, at the age of 72. Madeline was born on August 15, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Vincent and Lucille (Ward) Trollan, and sister of Paul, Tim, Jerry Trollan, Eileen Lee, and Mark Trollan; he preceded her in death. Madeline was the mother of seven who will miss her dearly; Maureen (Todd) Olm, Marcie (Mitch) Carey, Matt (Wendy) Hafenbreadl, Mark (Terri) Hafenbreadl. Marvin (Mary) Hafenbreadl, Missi (Pat) Tatum, and Marty Hafenbreadl, all who survive her. She was also the beloved grandmother to Acacia, Derek, Allie, Monica, Sara, Evan, Luke, Andrew, Megan, Brent, Collin, Jaxon, Thunder and our little angel Lindsey up in Heaven.

Madeline was an active mother and grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to sing and spent hours enjoying a good book. While raising seven children, she always found time to go to the kids’ activities, sitting through many bad musical performances and athletic events.

Madeline was active in the Northwoods area. She served as the Town Clerk in Lake Tomahawk and wrote the Lake Tomahawk column in The Lakeland Times. She served on the school board for the Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk School District and the Pastoral Council of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Lake Tomahawk.

Madeline moved to New Mexico to enjoy its nicer weather for 15 years. She loved the beauty of the Southwest and the native people of the area. Caregiving was the center of who Madeline was. She worked in hospice in Gallup, New Mexico and was an in-home caregiver for many years in Appleton and Gallup. Madeline moved back to the Fox Cities four years ago to be with her children.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Madeline’s name may be made to the Menasha Library or the Gallup New Mexico Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Krueger and Nurse Jan, the Oncology nurses at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and the kind caregivers at Cherry Meadows and ThedaCare Residential Hospice. Madeline appreciated the kindness of those who cared for her and of those who offered special thoughts, prayers and flowers in time of need.

“I want my children to know how much I love them. I want my brothers and sister to know how much I really love them. I want my friends and neighbors to know how much I care for them. Puppydog has my heart.”
