Lowell M. Leininger

September 5, 1933 — June 27, 2017

Lowell M. Leininger, age 83, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, with members of his family at his side. He was born on September 5, 1933 in De Pere to the late Milton and Irma (Maas) Leininger. On January 30, 1954 Lowell married Doris Pitz and they were blessed with their children: Lee, Marcia, Linda, and Michelle.
Lowell was known to many as the sole proprietor of Leininger’s Carpet Service for 40 years. His tremendous work ethic and determination to complete every job to perfection earned him both admiration and loyalty of many local decorators and contractors throughout the Fox Cities area.
As a young man he loved to hunt and fish. Later, he was an active member of the Appleton Jaycees, a long-time member at Emmanuel United Methodist Church; where he proudly served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed archery, bowling and volunteering for the lighting of fireworks for many 4th of July Celebrations at Pierce Park and time spent on Lake Winneconne with his family. In more recent years he was an avid Cribbage player and even picked up golf.
Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Doris, who took care of him for many years; his children, Lee (Laura) Leininger, Marcia (Mike) Traska, Linda (Steve) LaBrake and Michelle Long; his seven grandchildren; Johnathan (partner Aileen) Leininger, Megan Leininger, Ariana (Tim) Kaiser, Kristina LaBrake, Andrew LaBrake, Heather Traska and Keith (Kay) Traska.
He is further survived by four great-grandchildren, Stryker, Peytra and Zion Traska and Avery Kaiser; a brother, Tom (Darlene) Leininger and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Evelyn and his sister, Doris (Hal) Schaffer.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service with both Rev. Ben Morris and Rev. Lynn Kollath officiating. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, Lowell’s family will be sending memorials to UW Carbone Cancer Center. Lowell’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Appleton Retirement Community, Atrium of Little Chute and Affinity Hospice (especially Makenzie) for the wonderful care given to Lowell and compassion shown to his family. They also would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Hartig and Dr. Kroner for giving Lowell more time with his family and Jim Barge for taking extra care to ensure his comfort.
Dad finally “Got Round To It” and is at peace. We will miss your sense of humor Dad! We all love you!
