Lowell F. Schneider

Lowell F. Schneider, age 80 of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, May 8, 2016 at Theda Care Medical Center in Neenah. Lowell was born in Lester, Iowa on August 26, 1935, son of the late Rev. Leonard and (Alice) Hoppe Schneider. He was a graduate of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School, and was employed at Preway, Incorporated for thirteen years. He and Faye Oestreich were married on October 18, 1958 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids, and were blessed with a son, Mark. Lowell had been employed in the Accounting Department at Riverside Paper in Appleton for nearly thirty years. He was a longtime and faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he served as treasurer, assistant treasurer, financial secretary, assistant financial secretary, youth counselor, on the board of finance, and on the church council. He was a season ticket holder and avid fan of the Packers, and enjoyed golf and nearly all spectator sports. Lowell also volunteered at the Gardens of the Fox Cities.

Lowell is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years: Faye Schneider of Appleton; a son: Mark Schneider of Gilbert, Arizona; a brother: Rev. Terry (Irene) Schneider of Marshfield; a sister: Sheri (Jere) Dhein of Green Bay; a sister-in-law: Kathy Hoffman of Allentown, Pennsylvania; and two brothers-in-law: Wayne (Johnnie Ann) Oestreich of Bluffton, South Carolina and Roger (Dot) Oestreich of Fort Myers, Florida. There are also several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Roger (Deborah) Schneider and Rev. Dr. James Schneider.

The funeral service for Lowell will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 E. Glendale Avenue in Appleton, with Rev. Paul Brinkman and Rev. Terry Schneider officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church following the service. A private burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the Radio Ministry at Faith Lutheran Church.
