Lorraine V. Kaufman

August 31, 1927 — October 1, 2014

Lorraine V. Kaufman was called to her heavenly home, October 1, 2014, at the age of 87 with her husband and children at her side. Lorraine Kaufman (Wolosek) was born August 31, 1927, to the late John and Martha (Dreva) Wolosek in Plover, Wisconsin. As a first generation immigrant, she was raised in a Polish household and went to school to learn English in Wisconsin Rapids. Lorraine moved to Appleton and worked at Quaker Dairy, Scolding Locks, and Zwicker's Knitting Mill. On February 9, 1957, Lorraine was united in marriage to Charles A. Kaufman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Appleton. She was a very loving mother who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lorraine had a listening ear and prayed for everyone daily. Lorraine loved to bake and always had many desserts to enjoy. The grandchildren nicknamed her “Grandma Sweets”. Lorraine was an amazing babysitter for several grandchildren. They loved coming to her house as much as she loved having them. Lorraine also loved her trips around the state with her adoring husband, Chuck. With six children, seventeen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, Chuck and Lorraine were always busy going from house to house celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and get-togethers. Lorraine had a fabulous memory and often told stories of her life as she was growing up. These stories are now woven into the lives of her family. Lorraine loved to hear her husband's voice singing to her around the house. She can still hear him singing to her in heaven and is smiling.

Lorraine is survived by her loving and adoring husband Charles A. Kaufman; her children and grandchildren, Sharon (Mike) Vandehey; children Shannon (Rich) and Steffanie (Marcos). Brenda (Dan) Ebben; children Jason (Kim), Becky (Nate), Joseph (Shell), and Sam. Charles (Debra) Kaufman; children Naomi (Ryan), Benjamin (Fiancée Mary), and Nate. Connie (Fred) Seidl; children Amanda (Billy), Christopher, Matthew, and Kayla. Karen (Dave) Van Boogard; children, Alicia (Nick) and Andrew. Darlene (Scott) Hearden; children Alyssa and Erika. She is also survived by her eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Wolosek; brother, Chuck (Evelyn) Wolosek; and sister-in-law, Margaret Seidling.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Wolosek; sister, Evelyn Paul; and two brothers, Glen and Clarence. Her brother and sister-in-laws, Bob (Laverne), Casey (Margaret) (Betty), Louie (Margaret), Joe (Vivian), and Jack Kaufman. Leslie Paul, Shirley Wolosek, Richard Seidling, 3 infant grandchildren and 1 infant great grandchild.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Theda Clark Medical Center and Theda Care at Home for their care and compassion.
