Age 77, entered into eternal life Sunday evening, September 1, 2002 surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was born April 15, 1925, to the late Matthew and Ann (Mancoskey) Stedl, in Greenleaf, WI and graduated from East DePere High School in 1943. Lorraine was a loving and caring mother. In her last years, she took pride in caring for the elderly in their homes or at Tri-Manor in Appleton. She was a companion, nurse and friend. Lorraine loved to dance and continued to polka and waltz until her cancer was diagnosed in June of this year.

Survivors include her six children, Paula Depner, Kimberly; Dennis Manteufel, Appleton; Charles (Julie) Manteufel, Appleton; Robert (Kellie) Manteufel, Appleton; Jeff (Tammy) Manteufel, Darboy; Steve Johnson, Appleton; 12 grandchildren, Kim, Mark, Greg, Amanda, Jenna, Nathan, Bryce, Jill, Mike, Robin, Anna and Alex; six great grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Stedl; a dear longtime friend and companion, Harold Hesse; a son-in-law, Ernest Paltzer; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sara Paltzer, her son Larry Johnson and the fathers of her children, Orin Manteufel and Kenneth Johnson.

Funeral services for Lorraine will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 5, 2002, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 East North Street, with Reverend Willis Bloedow officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. We will bid our final farewells at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 4, 2002, from 4-8 pm and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund is being established.

Lorraine left this life as she always lived it…AS A TRUE LADY.
