Lorraine Coopman

Lorraine Coopman (Nee Kern), passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. She was born in Appleton, at home, on September 23, 1923, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Weiland) Kern. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton and attended school there from 1^st through 9^th grade, later graduating from Appleton High School (West) in 1941. Even 80 years later she could still sing the school song. After graduation, Lorraine worked at Scolding Locks, putting bobby pins on cards. Lorraine married Vernon Coopman, son of Joseph and Maude Coopman on January 12, 1946 at St. Joseph in Appleton. They had one son, Gary Lee. Lorraine enjoyed bowling, golf and playing cards. Lorraine loved her time she spent with her grandchildren and attending their activities and sporting events. She was a member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Gary (Bonnie) Coopman; grandchildren: Thomas (Jennifer) Coopman and their daughter, Sylvia, Daniel (Kristy) Coopman and their children Elise Sinner and Ivy and Adele Coopman, Jeff (Beth) Coopman and their children, Connor, Claire and Cameron, Sally (Curt) Christensen and their children Cole and Raimy Christensen; sister, Donna Van Hout; sister-in-law, Marilyn Helm Kern. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Vincent Kern, Dolores (Harley) Reinholz, Bernice (Robert) Schmidt, Joann (Jerome) Jost, Rita (Leonard) Wyngaard, Joyce (William) Frank, Nick (Donna) Kern Jr.; siblings-in-law: Oliver (Catherine) Coopman, Richard (Evelyn) Coopman, Marion (Otto) Sherz, Evelyn (Elmer) Dietz, Ada Coopman, Ben (Dorothy) Coopman Sr., Dorothy (Warren) Loper Cornelius Van Hout and Lorraine (Bob) Patterson.

The funeral mass for Lorraine will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church (528 2^nd St., Menasha) with Fr. Michael Lightner officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of mass.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Prairie Home, especially Emily, for the wonderful personal care given to Lorraine.
