Lola M. Noyes

May 4, 1927 — December 25, 2012

Lola Noyes, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Menasha on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. Lola was born in Mississippi on May 4, 1927, daughter of the late Emmett and Helen “Nellie” (Falvey) O'Connor. She attended Appleton High School, the Mercy School of Nursing in Oshkosh, and the University of Wisconsin in Madison. On September 14, 1957, she married Russell Noyes at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton; he preceded her in death in 2003. Lola worked as a surgical nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, and eventually joined the Visiting Nurse Association, and was instrumental in getting home hospice up and running in the Fox Valley. She loved to travel, read, study history, and continue her education.

Lola is survived by her loving daughter: Mary Christina (Greg) Tomensky of Charlotte, North Carolina; a grandson: Ian Loftus Tomensky and his special friend Kelsey Ahlgrim; two great-grandsons: Zach Gregory Tomensky and John Michael Tomensky; a cousin: Shirley Luedke; a sister-in-law: Edna Winslow of Chicago; nieces and nephews: Donna (James) Jones, Sarah (Roman) Mueller, Mary Susan (Clark) Kosty, and Daniel (Emily) Winslow; and two dear family friends: Nanette Hartwell and Jessica Herrick.

The funeral liturgy for Lola will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 4, 2012 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton, with Fr. Thomas Farrell officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again at the church on Friday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established in Lola's name, and online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

Lola's family would like to offer their deepest thanks to the care team who watched over Lola these past years. They include everyone at Affinity Hospice, and especially to her daily angels: Justine Krause, Luanne Keddell, Mary Vanden Heuvel, Cyndee Smith, Lynn Reinhart, Jodi Gaschler-Payne, and Tara Krause. We will never forget your kindness, your love, and everything you did to allow mom to stay in her own home. We will be forever grateful.
