Lois J. Schommer

June 15, 1936 — August 14, 2016

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt passed in her sleep early Sunday morning on August, 14, 2016. Lois Frank Schommer was born June 15, 1936, daughter of the late Melbourne and Dorothy (Jansen) Frank. She married Dan Schommer on June 28, 1958. Together they had four children.

Lois grew up on the “Marsh” and her childhood was filled with fun and adventure. She and her sister Pat tumbled and danced their way through the early years. Together they taught dance 25 years for the Kaukauna Recreation Department. Later she worked 20 years for the Kaukauna Area School District, a job and colleagues she loved! She retired from the school district in 1998. Mom enjoyed watching Brewer games and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. She had an incredible sense of humor, and shared her jokes with many. Most important to mom, was raising her three children, which she did with much love and enjoyment. The door was always open and all were welcome.

After her encephalitis diagnosis 8 years ago, Dad lovingly cared for mom. She enjoyed going to the casino, dining out with friends, and her weekly trips to The Pub. It's difficult to imagine life without her.

Lois is survived by Dan, her husband of 58 years: Dan Schommer; her three children: Tracy (Jeff) Wydeven, Terri (Rick) Kuchelmeister, and Bill (Diane) Schommer. Her grandchildren are Brad Wydeven (special friend Macaira Woody), Laina Wydeven, Kurt (Brianna) Kuchelmeister, Brianna Schommer, Billy Schommer (fiancée Sarah Longworth), Mackenzie (Austin) Weisnicht, Noah Schommer, and Eli Schommer. Lois is also survived by 6 great grandchildren; Lillian Kuchelmeister, Jada and Ava Schommer, Evelyn Schommer, and Aiden and Ryland Weisnicht.

Also surviving are four siblings; Donald (Carol) Frank, Pat Kloehn, Karl (Nancy Frank), and Tom Frank. Her surviving in- laws are Msgr. Mark Schommer, Sr. Mary Lee Schommer, and Karen Schommer. Lois especially loved her wonderful nieces and nephews, and their spouses.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Becky, her parents, her mother and father in law: Rose and Raymond Schommer; brothers-in-law Ray Schommer and Lloyd Kloehn, and a sister-in law: Virginia Ranquette.
The funeral liturgy for Lois will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – St. Mary's site, located at 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna. Fr. Jerry Pastors and Msg. Mark Schommer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Mom's faith was strong. She prayed the rosary every night ending her prayers saying, “I'm ready when you are God!” Her prayers were finally answered. We are sad for us but very happy for her.
