Lois A. Gabbard

Lois A. (Wagner) Gabbard, age 76, of Appleton, was born on September 30, 1940 to Gerald C., Sr., and Margaret (Reffke) Wagner in Appleton. She passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2017. Glenn, her husband of 55 years, was holding her hands as the Lord Jesus Christ welcomed her into His presence. She had stated several times during her last two days: “This is no longer my home.”
Lois graduated from Appleton High School prior to earning a teaching degree from Evangel University in Springfield, MO. She taught in elementary schools on Long Island, NY, and Wheaton, IL, before settling in Ithaca, NY, and starting a family. Lois moved back to the Appleton area in 1978 and was a substitute teacher in the Appleton Area School District for many years.
Lois attended Calvary Bible Church (Neenah) for many years and was previously a long-time member of Appleton Alliance Church. She enjoyed music, traveling, socializing with friends, decorating her home for holidays, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her husband Glenn; two sons, Gerald W. (Ashley) of Vancouver, WA, and Gerard F. (Beccy) of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren Haley, Micah, Seth, Benjamin, Ryan and Abby; a brother, Gerald C. (Judy) Wagner, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Norman and Barbara Gabbard of Fayetteville, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the many cards, visits, and food they have received over the past seven months.
