Lillian M Sambs

Lillian M. Sambs 88, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2016 after a second battle with cancer. She was born to the late Rufin and Katherine (Zelinski) Suess on December 20, 1927 in Menasha, WI. She married Michael Sambs on April 24th 1954. Lil supported her family without judgement. She loved to go to the woods with her family especially when the grandchildren were young. She liked to watch them roast marshmallows, chase fire flies, count the deer, and sit around the camp fire. She also enjoyed taking care of her flower beds around the house on Fire Lane 7. Lil was a stay at home mom when her girls were young. She enjoyed socializing with the other mothers as the kids took advantage of the water activities provided by Lake Winnebago. Later, when her children were older she enjoyed working for Dr. Young in Appleton until his retirement.

She is survived by her husband Michael of 62 years, her daughters; Julie (John) Stilp and Mary (Dave) Grishaber, brother Thomas Suess, brother-in –laws Ken Sambs, Charles (Annette) Sambs, sister-in-law Jean Sambs, grandchildren; Elaine (Jason) Tripp, Anna Grishaber, Eric (fiancé Dani) Stilp, Justin Stilp and a long list of family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother James Suess, sister-in laws Marie Suess and Margaret Suess.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 9:30-11:30 at St. Mary Catholic Church at 528 Second St., Menasha, WI 54952. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 at the church with Fr. Paul Paider officiating.

Family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Goggins and his staff at FVHO for the excellent and thoughtful care provided.

In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for the FVHO Fight Back Foundation, a non-profit cancer patient assistance program.
