OLSON, LILAS

Lilas Olson, age 86, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Cherry Meadows, Appleton. Lilas was born on December 3, 1920, in Appleton, to the late Edward and Emma (Schroeder) Krull. She married Myrel H. Olson on April 29, 1944, in Appleton; he preceded her in death on March 20, 2006. Lilas was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. Her strong faith was evident throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling with Myrel and after his death, vacationing with her children. Lilas enjoyed crocheting, card playing and her membership with Myrel in the Romeos and Calicos Square Dancing Club. Her entire life was focused on her family. Lilas enjoyed caring for her family, the time spent with them—especially her great grandchildren. Survivors include her son, David (Jan) Olson, Neenah; her daughter, Diane Kietzmann, Appleton; her son, Tim (Sue) Olson, Greenville; her grandchildren, Erik (Kerry) Olson, Ryan (Katie) Olson, Renee (Doug) Skarlupka and Rana (Mike) Prue; and her nine great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lilas was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers, and her grandson, Donald Myrel Olson. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2007, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street, Appleton, with Rev. Larry Matthews officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Thursday (TODAY) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and directly at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in Lilas’ name. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. John Swanson and his staff, Primary Care Associates, the Collaborative Care Unit at AMC and ThedaCare Hospice for their loving care.
