Age 82, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, October 18, 2001. She was born to the late George and Louise (Dunsirn) Doerfler, in Appleton, on September 20, 1919. On June 20, 1940, she married Harold Doerfler at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton, and enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. Lila enjoyed sewing. She was an avid watcher of old “black and white” movies and had a fondness for “Laural and Hardy.” Lila also enjoyed listening to Elvis. Lila is survived by her husband Harold, sister, Agnes Krumnaker, Menasha; niece Ellen (Jim) Conway, Appleton; grandniece, Laurie Conway, Appleton; 3 sisters-in-law, Della (Med) Medlem, Hortonville; Florence Verhoeven, Appleton; Rene Paden, Appleton; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lila is preceded in death by 3 brothers, George Doerfler, Joseph Doerfler, and Clair Doerfler; 4 sisters, Mae Schultz, Laura Hersekorn, Ceale Fischer, and Elizabeth Schmidt. The funeral liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2001, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton, with Fr. David Belongea officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Warner, Dr. Avery, Dr. Sohdi, Dr. Flanigann; and the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
