Leslie V. Riehl

November 22, 1914 — September 10, 2001

A long time Appleton resident, recently of Williamsville, Curly passed away at the home of his daughter and family on Monday, September 10, 2001. Les was born in Black Creek on November 22, 1914, son of the late George and Kate (Singer) Riehl. On August 6, 1938, he married the former Pearl (Last) in Black Creek. Pearl preceded him in death in May of 1995. Les
was a member of Electrical Workers Local 577 for over 50 years; over thirty years at Langstadt Electric, and retired from A & L Electric. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton, and during World War II served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps and was stationed in Italy.

He is survived by a daughter: Kathylee Paul and her fiancé, Rick Brewer of Williamsville, New York; two sons: Rick (Donna) Riehl of West Bend and Jerry (Ruth) Riehl of Appleton; seven grandchildren: Heather, Tyler, Tara, Ben, Lindsay, Troy and Angie; three great-grandchildren: Tia Marie, Bailey Marie and Tristan Charles; and a sister: Jean (Lester) Wright of Folsom, California. His parents, brothers Ward and Clarence, and a sister Margaret preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 14, 2001 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton with Rev. Ralph C. Waack officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 8 PM and again at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the hour of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Les’ name.
