Following his retirement, Reverend Ziemer served churches in Waupaca, De Pere and was currently serving Grace Lutheran Church, Appleton, and First English Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. Through the years he served on many boards of the churches he served as well as boards in the community, most recently the Board of Valley Packaging and Fox Valley Lutheran Homes.

He left for heaven peacefully with his daughter, Ann, at his side. Leonard loved and cared for his wife and family, his congregations and their members, sports and places he visited. Family birthdays, reunions and celebrations were extra special events in his life. From the time he began his service to the Lord in 1945, he devoted himself to leading, caring for and visiting people. He loved to exchange stories and jokes with everyone. He had a passion for golf, enjoyed crosswords and puzzles, and liked to watch sports. He became fond of Door County when he spent weeks serving the Lutheran Church in Ephraim and returned at least once a year to vacation with the family and play golf. Every day Leonard talked about how he appreciated the love and caring of his wife, Jane. He will be sadly missed by her and their family.

“Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above; ye heavenly hosts; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
