Age 99, died unexpectedly in Appleton on March 30, 2003. She was born in the Town of Osborne on September 27, 1903, daughter of the late William and Ida (Pollex) Schultz. On June 19, 1924, Leola married Harry Meyer, who preceded her in death in 1971. Leola was a homemaker all of her life and took great pride in raising her family.

Leola is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Van Ryzin of Appleton; grandchildren: Gary (Christine) Van Ryzin of Appleton and Heather Van Ryzin of Appleton; great grandchildren: Jay (Melissa) Van Ryzin of Appleton, Richard Hoffman of Neenah, and Amanda Van Ryzin of Appleton. Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends further survive Leola.

Leola was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Daryl Meyer; brother, Arnold Schultz; and a sister, Alma Landua.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 740 East College Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Lynn Kollath officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know. And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, miss me, but let me go.
