Age 79, died peacefully Monday, March 26, 2001, at his home following a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Lawrence was born on May 18, 1922, in Salem, North Dakota, to the late Kenneth C.and Bertha (Lawrence) Enger. He married Arlene Fischer; she preceded him in death. Lawrence later married Anne Bartel; she also preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Appleton West High School in 1941; served his country in the United States Army from 1941-43; was a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 46; was a member of St. James United Methodist Church; and was employed at Appleton Papers-Combined Locks Divison for 35 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary (Steve) Waechter, Nicaragua; his son, Lawrence (Patsy) Enger, Appleton; his son Kenneth C. Enger, Weyauwega; his son, Jeffrey T. Enger, Weyauwega; and his son, Todd (Melanie) Wilcox, Waupaca; his sisters, Lila Denzer, Appleton, and Thelma (James) McMorrow, Kaukauna. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer, Ruth and Tate Waechter; Andrew and Daniel Enger; Arlene Enger and Matthew (Schotzie) Enger; Tyler and Nicole Enger; Ben, Max and Taylor Wilcox; and his great grandchildren, Sasha Enger and Noah Enger. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Mary Enger.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2001, at ST. JAMES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 100 West Capitol Drive, Appleton, with Rev. Nancy Moffat officiating. Internment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again directly at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. There will be a D.A.V. service on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
